Advertised entry price for the cheapest billing term. Nights when our scraper saw only part of Netcup's catalogue are excluded from the line. The hatched bands mark stretches with no reliable reading, the line stops there instead of carrying the last price across them. 2 nights failed our checks and are shown as gaps rather than price moves.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a VPS?

A VPS (Virtual Private Server), also known as a vServer, is a virtual machine that is hosted on a physical server and allows users to run isolated server environments with their own operating systems and applications. VPSs offer flexibility and control similar to dedicated servers, but at an affordable price. They are ideal for users who need their own server but don't want the cost and management of a physical server.

What can I do with a VPS?

With a vServer, you have the ability to run a variety of tasks, including web hosting, database management, gaming servers, development environments and more. A VPS provides a scalable and customizable platform for a variety of applications, for both Linux and Windows operating systems.

What are the advantages of a VPS?

A VPS offers numerous benefits, including flexibility, scalability, security and cost savings. You can scale your resources as needed, customize your environment and use isolated server environments for improved security. With a VPS, you can maintain control of your server environment without the cost and hassle of a dedicated server.

What is the difference between a VPS x86, VPS ARM64 and root server?

Both VPS (Virtual Private Server) and Root Servers are hosting solutions that give you access to your own virtual server. The main difference lies in the underlying architecture and the type of provisioning:VPS x86: Based on the x86 architecture with 64-bit capability. Suitable for a wide range of applications.VPS ARM: Based on the ARM architecture, also 64-bit capable. Especially efficient for specialized workloads such as IoT applications, edge computing, or resource-friendly server application

Where is the location of my VPS?

You select the server location directly on the product page before placing your order. The following locations are available:Vienna (VIE)Nuremberg (NUE)Amsterdam (AMS)Manassas/USA (MNZ) andSingapore (SIN)There is also the option “No preference Europe” - you cannot specify the exact location, but your server will be set up exclusively in a European data center (e.g. Vienna, Nuremberg, or Amsterdam), depending on available capacity.

What contract terms are available for VPS Server G12.5?

Choose between a minimum contract term of one, twelve, or 24 months. The longer you commit, the cheaper it gets: With a 12-month contract, you’ll save money compared to the monthly billing option, and with a 24-month contract, you’ll save even more.

Can I expand my VPS with local block storage?

Yes, you can expand your VPS with Local Block Storage after setup. This gives you additional storage space for your data and applications, allowing you to scale your performance and storage requirements. Please note that the maximum size can vary by plan group:Regular VPS plans (from G10 onwards) can be expanded up to a maximum of 8 TB.Plans in the VPS G11s / G11.5s generation (VPS pico, VPS nano) cannot be expanded with Local Block Storage.VPS Lite G12.5 plans can be expanded up to 4 TB.

Can I rent a Windows Server?

netcup does not offer any ready-made Windows servers. However, you have the option of installing Windows on your server yourself via the SCP. Please note that this is a 180-day test license. Beyond that, you cannot purchase Windows software licenses via netcup.

Can I switch between different VPS server variants as my project grows?

Yes, you can upgrade to a bigger plan within the same generation (e.g., from VPS 1000 G12.5s to VPS 2000 G12.5s) or pricing group (e.g., from VPS Lite 1 G12.5s to VPS Lite 2 G12.5s). To do so, use the upgrade feature in the Customer Control Panel (CCP). Upgrades to or from promotional or special products are not possible.Find out more about product upgrades here.

Can I upgrade from VPS G12 to VPS G12.5?

A direct upgrade is not possible. However, you can order a VPS G12.5 plan, cancel the VPS G12 plan at the end of your minimum contract term, and migrate your data.Hier erfährst du mehr über Produkt-Upgrades.

Can VPS G12 products still be ordered?

Our current product range is based on Generation 12.5 products. Generation 12 products are therefore generally no longer available for purchase. Upgrades within Generation 12 are still possible.

What network configurations are available for VPS plans?

You have the following three options available:IPv4 and IPv6 connectivityIPv6 connectivityCloud vLAN onlyIf you are unsure about anything, it is best to read all the information on network configuration in the Help Center.

Can I change my server location later on?

No, you cannot change the location of your server after it has been set up. Migration is only possible by placing a new order at the desired location and manually transferring all data.

My question is not listed here. Where can I find an answer?

You can find more answers in the FAQ section of our Help Center.

What is a root server?

A root server is a server where you have full administrative access (root access). You receive clearly defined resources that are available to your server. You can run individual system software and have complete administrative control. A root server therefore requires knowledge of the administration of server systems.
